What Makes Us Different?
We are a ‘boutique’ facility. You will feel like guests in our home, because this is our home, and we will treat you like our old friends and family.
We limit the size of our retreat groups.
Our rooms are sometimes available to rent.
We are in the mountains at about 4700 feet, where the weather is spring-like most of the year, with temperatures ranging from 80-84 in the day and 62-65 in the evenings, with usually no or very little humidity.
We are located in an agricultural and residential area that still has vestiges of the 'old Costa Rica', with traditional houses and seniors on their porches visiting and watching the world go by.
Our intimate valley view showcases crews cutting sugar cane (by hand, still!) or harvesting coffee, and always an excellent display of our marine-influenced clouds, sunrises and sunsets.
If there are mosquitos here, we have not seen them.
We have dogs, cats and chickens.
Awesome Views
Towards Poas Volcano or towards the valley (or even just in the gardens!), Ser La Luz offers beautiful vistas in all directions.
Private Spaces
Our rooms are located in the back of the property and below the main public areas. You can be as public or as private as you need.
Secluded Jacuzzi
Our round Jacuzzi fits 4 people. In a private, covered area surrounded by tropical vegetation.
Trip Advisor Platinum 2016
We maintain Platinum status with Trip Advisor.
Central Location
Ser La Luz is conveniently located about 45 minutes from the country's main airport.
We can also help with arranging transportation to and from the airport for you.
Our studio rooms come with kitchenettes. If you are interested in us providing meals, let us know before you arrive and for a nominal per meal fee we can accommodate your needs.

Bright, private rooms
All rooms are furnished with eclectic yet comfortable trappings. Each has it's own private bathroom.
Convenience Kitchens
All rooms feature basic convenience kitchens (except for Backpackers Paradise). Mini-fridge, microwave.
Queen Bunks
Some rooms can accomodate 1 to 5 people.
Backpacker's Paradise
For those on the go, this space is perfect for those looking for a place to crash between major field trips.
